To whom it concerns:
On one of my daughter's and my outings to the mall we ran into a lady in the bathroom with a small child around 8 months old, the infant was in a front carry sling, With the added bulk of the baby, the mother had trouble bending to wash her hands and as she was doing so, the baby was rubbing against the counter. As she moved over to dry her hands, my daughter had to point out to her to be careful of water on the floor, she had no clue that it was there since she couldn't see over the baby, we were concerned that she may slip. She was sweating, we could see that the baby was uncomfortable, he was squirming and fussing, his head was held tightly by the sling, he was straining to see his surroundings. The baby reminded me of a turtle in its shell, only the head, legs and arms were protruding.
That scene took me back 25 years, to when my kids were young. I had always used some type of sling, I remember when my son was 6 months old, taking the kids on outings, my son in his sling and even though we had the closeness which baby needs, he was very fussy, the weather being hot to begin and with our added body heat, it became unbearable. We were both sweating and had to stop every half hour to take him out of his sling and let him cool down. We tried changing, by carrying him on the back; it was still hot for both of us, but worse was that I couldn't see him, or his expressions.
Carrying on the front, I also found it difficult to judge how close I could come to objects such as counters; I did squish the baby in between my body and a counter a few times . Coming back to reality, I told the lady about the Cuddle Karrier. The Cuddle Karrier wasn't available when my family was growing. I discovered the Cuddle Karrier a couple of years ago; it has been a great asset in my day-care centre. Now going for outings, to the park is a breeze, not only is it great for a baby sling, but now I don't have to carry a purse, I put everything in the pouch, house keys, a couple of diapers, wipes, Kleenex, a snack for the kids, attach a water bottle and away we go. The kids start out walking, but eventually they do get tired, I place 2 in the wagon and one in the sling and carry on.
The most natural and comfortable way of carrying a child is on the hip, that's how I carried my kids and that is exactly how the Cuddle Karrier was designed, it only makes sense. The mother/caregiver and child are comfortable, there is no sweating, overheating, the child has the freedom of movement, he's high enough that he can see everything around him, we browse magazines together, I have my hands free to push a stroller, pull a wagon, hold onto a little hand, pay for my purchases, the child sits without being held, which is a big advantage, without the benefit of the Cuddle Karrier the child would have to be held in position by the adult, there's no added bulk on the front of your body so you both stay cool.
When my kids were young, we didn't have a choice in slings, this generation does have that choice, I've used both types of slings, I would recommend the Cuddle Karrier over all the rest.
Thanks.
Best regards.
